What this site is — and is not
IOL Adviser translates technical and clinical information about cataract surgery and intraocular lenses into practical questions for patients. It does not diagnose disease, determine medical suitability, prescribe a lens or replace an examination by a qualified ophthalmologist or surgeon.
How sources are selected
We prioritize regulatory documents, peer-reviewed studies, systematic reviews, professional-society guidance and clearly identified manufacturer technical data. Marketing claims, clinic pages, testimonials and social-media reports may help identify patient concerns, but they are not treated as equivalent to clinical evidence.
Bench data and clinical outcomes are different
Optical-bench measurements can explain how an IOL design behaves under controlled conditions. They cannot by themselves predict one person’s visual experience. Clinical studies add information about real patients, but results still depend on study design, patient selection, ocular health, surgical technique and follow-up.
Benefits and trade-offs
No IOL is presented as universally best. Reviews describe the intended benefit, the main compromise, the quality and limits of the supporting evidence, and the patient priorities that may make a technology worth discussing with a surgeon.
Authorship, commercial context and corrections
Pages carrying Oleksii Sologub’s byline are based on his original material or contain his substantive analysis, and he accepts editorial responsibility for them. Pages labelled “IOL Adviser” are editorial resources prepared for the project and are not presented as Oleksii’s personal writing. AI tools may assist with drafting, translation or editing; they are not listed as authors. Neither form of attribution implies a personal medical assessment or replaces review by your treating clinician.
Oleksii Sologub is an IOL technology expert and patient-decision specialist, not an ophthalmologist or surgeon. He remains a co-owner of Technomedex Group, which works with ophthalmic technologies. This context is disclosed because readers should be able to judge possible bias. Consultation fees do not depend on the manufacturer, clinic, model or final choice.
Pages show an update date only when the content has been substantively reviewed. If you find a factual error, a broken source or an important new study, please use the contact form linked in the footer so the claim can be checked and corrected.
How to use the information safely
Use IOL Adviser to understand terminology, identify your visual priorities and prepare questions. Bring those questions, together with your examination and measurements, to the surgeon responsible for your care. The final medical decision belongs to you and that qualified clinician.
